Good Morning Girls,
Judy - It's a shame it rained the whole time of DS' party! As long as he had a good time is the main thing though. When is his actual birthday?
I had a great day yesterday - despite 40 degree heat. DH put the aircon on before he left for work but it was still so hot, I'd hate to have been without it. I washed sheets & clothes & they were all dry by 9.30am. I baked a madeira cake, some chocolate muffins & tried a new recipe - microwave caramel rice. (I had a tin of condensed milk that needed to be used up). I got everything done on my list except for menu planning & I had a shiny sink by bedtime.
To Dos
morning routine
kids to schools grocery shop
menu plan fill scripts & refill pill box - decided to push these to tomorrow
bring bins in Christmas to do
pay bills due declutter zone
afternoon routine before bed routine
Wishing you all a lovely day
Edited to add - DH & the kids put the Christmas tree up on Saturday

Hi Judy - I think we've had a heatwave over the weekend?! I'm hoping it was just a heatwave. I tasted the caramel rice while it was still warm & it was ok, I don't know about once it's chilled. That's how bright I am, baking in a heatwave. Smart. NOT.

Glad you survived the heat Elasti Hope you have a good week of birthdays Judy
Today DD has preschool, I have to do errands then a WHB. The weekend was really hectic, with Dniece's birthday party, then yesterday we were out for most of the day with family. I have put on the calendar that thursday is a "rest" day. It is mostly for DD, who really needs one, we will stay at home all day and hopefully recharge our batteries.
Have a great day

Good Morning Lovely Ladies
Sounds like some busy and some hot weekends out there. It is hot here yesterday too, and the wind was terrible, so therefore got 5 loads of washing dry. ALSO got all the ironing up to date and the folding done (just waiting for everyone to collect their baskets to put away - even me)
Today is DH day off. We need to pick DD16 up early as she has Dress Rehearsal this arvo and needs to be there a little earlier as she is also a student teacher so can be helpful. I have decided NOT to help this year. After the abuse I copped last year from several parents and a kid lying to mine and her mothers face that I had taken her costume to repair and lost it. When in fact she had been lazy and instead of asking me to fix it, she had just stashed it in her bag. Little brat. Anyway I am doing the 'dump and run' for the 1st time in years and years. I got DD16's costume done and it looks great, the rest of the mum's will have to sort themselves out. I hope someone remembers the needle and threads.
After we drop DD16 off, we are going to Bunnings for a few gardening supplies. I want to get the 'garden zone' tidy and mulched ready for Christmas and Summer. What's for Dinner? Leftovers YAY - San Chow Bau and Lettuce Leaves, Cauliflower 'fried rice', Sweet & Sour Meatballs. So that will be easy.
Wishing you all a Marvelous Monday and a Wonderful Week FLYing together. (DH just finished washing the cars, so time for a swim ) xoxo

Medusa - did you make the cake for DNiece's party? Great idea to have a rest day, good for DD & good for mummy too. Shellie - good on you for taking care of your DD & her costume & not everyone else's. I don't blame you. Let 'em go play trains with themselves, as my DMiL would say.

Hi everyone,
Great to read your news. At work today and getting things done. Left the kitchen tidy this morning with the help of the DKids. My back is out - unusual for me - and I'm really not handling the pain as well as I'd like. Have a report to proof and am seriously considering doing it lying down on my friend's yoga mat.
On the home front - am slowly decluttering. My dresser is now clear and it looks lovely. Makes me realise how terribly cluttered it was. I need to find somewhere for my makeup now... Not sure about anyone else, but I find it difficult to see that balance between homely and cluttered. I don't want sterile and minimalist to the extent there is no character, but I don't like the visual overload of clutter and the sinking feeling it gives me. Also lack storage - for a big house, there's a cupboard under the stairs (for suitcases, tools etc.) and a linen press (linen, and don't laugh - lego!?!), a cupboard in the laundry - ironing board and some brooms, shoe polish etc., but no built ins upstairs and no general pantry/cupboard for brooms/quilts etc. Hope to make progress on our robe/ensuite next year, though.
In the meantime, does anyone have a trick for seeing clutter and deciding what creates as sense of home and what is just too much?
Hope you all have a great day.

Hi Elizabeth, I hope your back gets better soon!
HA you don't want to know what's in my linen cupboard, lots of random crap & very little linen!
On the how-much-is-too-much-clutter front, I think it's personal preference. One person might like 5 things on a shelf, someone else might only like 1 or 2. I'm in the middle atm, I've got areas that look barren & like you said, there's no character & other areas that look a little too lived in, iykwim. I'd start with how it makes you feel when you look at something, e.g. what's on your dresser. Depending on whether it makes you smile & feel calm or you feel a sudden case of hives coming on, will be a good indication of what you like. HTH
