Good morning Medusa and those to come, Weather isn't bright here so not yet sure of plans. Looking forward to getting home on the weekend and starting the Peter Walsh challenges - want to declutter more! Bought exercise clothes yesterday for the first time in about 10 years and trying to baby step my way to getting stronger and healthier. Have exercised every day bar one since being away. No excuses now! Wishing you all a great day! ?

Good Morning Medusa, Elizabeth & those to come,
I've been offline for a few days, I didn't want to come in here & bring everybody down only a few days into the new year, because we finally got a quote for fixing the a/c (with no guarantee it will stay fixed for any length of time either) And we got a rough quote for fixing my car
let's just say NOT so happy new year & NOT the great start I wanted. But I can't do much about it, I just need to suck it up & deal with it. We've given the go ahead to the mechanic to fix the car, it's the main priority.
So today I'm doing the WHB, the washing's in the dryer (rainy), I need to FACE/rehash the budget, meal planning & ironing.
Wishing you all a lovely day

Good Morning Lovely Ladies
Hi Medusa, I hope you enjoy your errands and have a great day
Hello Elizabeth. Well done you for the exercise. And now with cute clothes to wear there will be nothing holding you back. (well nothing except DH, 3kids, a dog, an entire house and oh yeah a job - but you go girl xoxo)
Hi Elasti, so sorry to hear your New Year has been derailed. Why does that always happen, you think for a millisecond that you might be breaking even, or even getting in front and then several big things slam you right back to where you were, or even further back. I'm just wondering if the A/C might be a lost cause. And a new one (maybe on a payment plan) might be a better way to go. You may even be able to recoup a little if you try to sell it on a BUY/SELL/SWAP page or on EBay or GumTree. Someone with the knowledge might buy it and get it going for themselves and in the meantime you could be using a new one and adding to your credit rating. Harvey Norman does that deals (and they are interest free, AS LONG AS YOU PAY THEM OFF ON TIME).
I am having such an issue with not sleeping since Christmas. I just can't put my finger on it. We have tried having the bedroom cooler, thinking it was the heat. Going to bed at different times. Turning off the technology earlier. Reading before bed. Making sure my BBR is done so I'm not 'worrying' about that. Even made the big push to get the ironing/folding up to day "Peter Walsh Challenge Day 1 (Elizabeth), and even that didn't work. I tried having a couple of relaxing Bacardi's with Mineral Water (no caffeine from the Diet Coke). Down to not even 1 can of Diet Coke per day. Not having my after dark coffee (even though I only have DeCafe after dark). Only having 2 'real' Coffees during the morning. I even bought a 'Sleep Well' Aromatherapy Oil and defuser for the bedside table, and still nothing changes
I think I need to be hit over the head. I have some sleeping tablets but I can't resort to them all the time. I was given them for anxiety but they have the happy coincidence of making me sleepy as I only take them rarely. And I DON'T want to take them regularly and get dependent on them. Can anyone think of anything else???
Today I am having a HOME DAY. Only thing I probably really NEED to do is a quick trip to IGA (local) for some loo roll. Other than that I plan to follow the Peter Walsh Challenge - today's mission is set up a Donate Bin by the back door, my Daily Routines, make a batch of Dukan Cookies (still working on the recipe/cooking time), Load a Day - start to finish, Maybe 30mins on the Treadmill (no walk this morning, too tired to get moving), and do a little cooking for the Dukan Diet and take stock of leftovers which I may use for lunch or dinner today. Oh and I want to 'slowly' reorganize Christmas, it's mostly away but I rushed and didn't pack tubs well. I have left them in the spare room, so I just want to reshuffle and maybe put them back on the shelves in a better system (if it works that way).
Ok, time to get Load a Day in the machine and call DMum. Wishing you all a Terrific Thursday. I hope you day goes to plan

Shellie - just a couple of thoughts -
Do you have any mild headaches or niggly pains? sometimes that interrupts your sleep Is there stuff you're worried about, like Dmum's health or the possibility of her having a fall, DD20 being out on the town, that sort of thing? Maybe doing a bit more vigorous exercise might physically tire you out? Or you could try getting up half an hour earlier in the morning, it could make you fall into a good sleep when you go to bed. A relaxing soak in a warm bath before bed might work.
Other than that I'm not really much help - I've got the same issue. It's rough.
As for our a/c, we've decided to let it wait (it's a long, complicated story) - we're going to save up to replace it eventually. Thank you for your ideas

Hi Shellie I hate to even mention it but a lot of my menopausal friends have a lot of trouble getting to sleep, or staying asleep Do you have any other symptoms? Maybe see a nice female doctor? Of course this is just a suggestion as you are far too you g to be in that category:) x x

Thank you for your ideas No Headaches Only 'niggly pains' are in my hip if I lay on that side too long or a back ache when we were bed bound last week sick, so not usually Although DMum, DD20 in fact DS21 and DD16 as all worrisome at times, I am not laying there particularly thinking about them (I have done in the past of course) I did wonder if starting back exercise would help, but it's only 30min walks, NOT vigorous to be honest I wake most mornings with the sun, drives me nuts, if I could sleep in I'd get enough sleep I think The soak in the tub sounds like a good idea (I will have to clean the tub 1st - dusty from lack of use), I did sit with the new back massager on my back and then my feet for 30mins before bed last night. Thought it might help.

Of course this is just a suggestion as you are far too you g to be in that category:) x x YOU ARE SO RIGHT JUDY.....I AM ENTIRELY TOO YOUNG FOR MENOPAUSE!!!!!!
Unfortunately my Bio-Clock has different ideas. I reckon I started hot flashes when DD16 was still in primary school (maybe 5yrs ago), they have calmed down some since the weight loss. The night sweats have come and gone, really bad at the beginning of the year and yes I think the weight loss has helped there too. Alcohol has a 'flushing effect' also (classic menopause). Periods have become less than regular. Sometimes 7weeks sometimes 7months in between (now there's a surprise I am happy to keep waiting on). So yeah Judy, I think that might have a little to do with it. The really good news for the family - I am still an absolute JOY to be around, 1st woman ever to not get moods swings with peri-menopuase/menopause Oh and I am probably a weirdo, but I'd rather go to a male Dr even for this issue.

I've seen the same male doctor for the last 33 years. He does all my Pap smears and everything too so I'm also a weirdo
