So I've been doing some research since reading Jilly's face book post.
Apparently walking or jogging in water burns more calories than walking or jogging on land. I've found an article in LIVESTRONG.COM which I believe to be reputable.
www.livestrong.com/article/314547-how-many-calories-does-walking-in-water-burn/
So now I need to decide. Do I continue flogging myself on the walking track everyday with minimal results or do I spend the next month jogging in my pool. What should I do....

Hi Shellie, I think both if you enjoy both, for variety. But if you prefer one over the other, then stick with the one you prefer because I think you’ll be more inclined to keep going. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

HI Shellie,
Why is it that you think you are getting minimal results?

HI Shellie, Why is it that you think you are getting minimal results? 0 weight loss for the month.
I know everyone says it's just a number, ignore the scale, use a tape measure etc etc. BUT there is no way I can be a size 12-14or16 at this weight, this number just doesn't fit into those ones. And I would like to get back to a 'normal' size and not always have to hope there is an 18 (or bigger)left.
I get that I am probably a little fitter, and perhaps I've gained some muscle and lost the same in fat. BUT I JUST WANT THAT DAMN NUMBER ON THE SCALE TO GO DOWN.
So my life long battle continues, one step at a time
(I have a gf, every time she wants to shed a few (10-20) kilos she goes to the Dr and gets some pills. She is totally wired for a few months but drops the weight and goes on the cruise or to the wedding or whatever her reason. And then she pigs out and puts ALL the weight back on again. And the Dr just keeps letting her do it. I find that so frustrating. My Dr won't perscribe them to me as I am on high BP meds and they don't mix. BUT if I could drop 20kilos, I wouldn't be pigging out and putting it back on again.)

Your friends method is absolutely outrageous and the Dr should lose his licence! You are on the right path. I understand that it must be really frustrating, but creating this habit will place you in a really good position when it happens for lifelong weight loss...
I think you'll find that even if you got the pills and lost weight, it would all go back on again regardless of whether you pigged out or not...
I'm here to help

That's why I was so sad when the forum closed, the unfaltering support I get from this group is amazing and I would have missed it so much.

Shellie, I would recommend you use that tape measure. When I did lose some weight I lost 5 cm from my boobs. I didn't go down a bra size or anything so if I hadn't measured myself I wouldn't have even known. With all that exercise you are doing you have to be losing something, somewhere! I'm sure it will 'whoosh' sooner or later. Maybe we could start a thread to be accountable for what we eat each day? Sometimes you have to actually eat more when you are exercising and you don't see it until you write it down. Dont Give Up! You are inspiring us all! X x

X x Thanks Judy, I really must get the tape measure out. I have been food logging at www.calorieking.com.au. Have been a member on and off for too long, but 'promised' to log daily for February. I have noticed I use too many condiments, so have cut them for the time being. I have also been looking at a site that Jilly recommended, www.loseit.com, it's a different format and has a few different features. Both have forums, CalorieKing (I find) is hard to navigate around the forum. Lose It! has groups you can join and interact with other members. It has rewards for logging in daily. I will start a thread here RE: Food Accountability

The others have said all that can be said... You have to mix up your exercising, so don't do the same thing every day as your body gets used to it... You need to keep restarting it, and trick it into, not go into starvation mode... Your right about you maybe gaining muscle strength and stamina rather than weight loss, muscle weighs more than fat.. doing the tape measure thing is one of the best ways to tell if you are loosing or your body weight is shifting... '
I use a fit bit to track my daily steps... Ive got it set at 5,000 at the moment but will up it up slowly till I reach my 10,000 per day again... (set it back due to my treatment.. ) I use a site called My Fitness Pal.. its free, has a forum and you can log your daily eating/fitness....
