I'm going to think of it that way. Sounds good, doesn't it? Actually, all it means is that I've got a couple of weeks worth of annual leave and really want to use it on getting the worst of my to-do list down, rather than looking back and feeling I goofed the whole lot away on 'Net surfing.
So, today I:
- Caught up on accounts
- Caught up on updating my malpractice insurance
- Got another CPD module done
- Washed out the jars that had been sitting next to the sink for ages
- Washed the curtains that were waiting to be washed
Not a bad day's work. Will aim to keep the rhythm going tomorrow.

Forgot a couple of things from yesterday; also ironed my daughter's school cardigan and three pairs of my trousers, and read one of the journals from the 'to-read' pile.
From today:
- Finished another journal. Got a CPD credit from writing notes on it.
- Got my latest pension contribution sent off, forms correctly (I hope) filled out.
- Read some articles I needed to read on pension issues.
- Got my login sorted for the website for my daughter's new school, and paid the trip deposit.
- Got some laundry done.

Phew! Not been updating, and I have had various bits and pieces get in the way of doing stuff, but I have been plugging away.
- Read quite a few more journals from the pile
- Got another two CPD units done
- Cleared up a bit of stuff in the children's room. (Not all that much, but enough to make room for a piece of furniture that's being moved in there.)
- Did a bit of cleaning that needs doing in the room we're about to have redecorated (cleaned off the radiator ready for spray painting, cleaned some very stubborn stickers off the cupboard doors)
- Did a fair bit of decluttering of the kitchen counters
- Did some bits and pieces towards getting my desk clear
- Figured out (I think) how to get my new finance software to produce a summary report of the figures I need for my tax return.
- Spent a lot of time trying unsuccessfully to retrieve some old e-mails from my computer in a format I can use, which I'm counting even though it was unsuccessful on the basis that all this trial and error is an important part of (I hope) eventually succeeding.
- Did cooking with my daughter, which I never normally get round to doing so now I feel at least I've earned some Good Parenting points.. (So far we've made spaghetti bolognaise, Victoria sponge cake, and peanut butter cookies.)
Well, time's nearly up. Two more days, then the weekend (during which time I'll have to get some work done ready to go back on Monday) so I'll keep on seeing what I can do.

Well, fortnight's over. I'll write a summary thread; this will include stuff I've already written (and stuff I forgot to write at the time). All this, of course, was on top of normal day-to-day stuff, dealing with children, doing cooking with daughter, and spending quite a bit of time just chilling and relaxing. Oh, and I logged into work this w/end and caught up on bits & pieces. So here's what I managed:
- Decluttered a fair bit of stuff from the kitchen counters
- Decluttered some of my top left desk drawer (not very thorough, but was going through it looking for something and spotted several items that could obviously be thrown out, so now at least I can enjoy being able to close it easily).
- Did a bit of cleaning/tidying related to getting small bedroom ready for decorating. Contacted people re. same.
- Pretty much caught up on CPD
- Got through a substantial amount of the journal pile
- Collected and donated my daughter's primary school uniform
- Donated a couple of large stacks of books
- Caught up on various bits and pieces on my desk
- Figured out how to get my finance programme to do the summary report I need for my tax return, which means I can now get on with doing the tax return.
So... other stuff I'd like to have got done, which I suppose is always going to be the way, but I did get a substantial amount done, and I now have a base to build on for the rest of the holidays. I'll continue updating here; I'm only working three days a week for the next three weeks and then I have another week and a half off, so I can keep listing what I'm doing. Anyway, off to a solid start.
