Lest We Forget

Good Morning Lovely Ladies
The weather has turned very ugly here overnight. There was a beautiful clear starry sky at midnight, then about 4am storms rolled in. It has become rather scary out there now, with flash flood warnings and hail storm warnings for Newcastle and the Hunter Valley. So we will have to see how the day unfolds.
DD16 and her girlfriend represented their high school at the dawn service this morning and laid a wreath. DH dropped them down on his way to work and I went down to bring them home. They are good girls. They were a couple of drowned kitty's when I picked them up. However it has gotten worse since they got home. We lost power for a short time but it's back now and the rain and thunder has been pretty relentless.
Today is a work day for me, but I'm contemplating just not going. DH is there, no power, heavy rain and lightening so the days activities are pretty much unofficially cancelled. I am heading for a shower soon then I'll make a decision. Won't go out in torrential rain to drive to work to not have any customers to serve. Just seems dumb to me. But I feel bad about not showing up for DH, he is there all day by himself if I don't go, not that he will be busy, just lonely.
Yesterday I got stuck in here and I am feeling much better about my floors especially. House is looking pretty tidy and dirty clothes hampers are mostly empty. There is a little folding to do and of course the ironing (there is always ironing), not a big pile so I don't know why I don't just deal with it for goodness sake. I cooked a lovely (even if I do say so myself) Dukan friendly Beef Stoganoff and served on shredded cabbage with dry roasted veg. So yum.
Ok well I best make a move to do something. Just haven't quiet decided what yet. Wishing you all a Fabulous Friday.

Hi Everyone Shellie-I picked the same picture as you to post so had to change it! I think you should stay home and safe and dry today. I saw the weather post you shared on fb and it looks terrible! Here we are expecting a lovely Autumn day which meant for a icy cold dawn service. DH and DD24 have gone and are then doing dishes for the BBQ put on by the RSL. I tried to sleep in but had an early call from DSonIL about a change of todays plans We had a lovely meal at DD29s last night and DD24 went too and then stayed the night here. She is doing some cooking here this afternoon I have no definite plans for today. I dont expect DH and DD24 home til lunchtime and DGD1 is coming for a bit too but I dont know when as DD29 has woken with flu-like symptoms. DSiL will drop her off probably after her sleep I want to do my WHB as soon as possible, make some ANZAC biscuits, a load or 2 of washing, pay some bills and paper filing and whatever else comes my way. Im really starting to notice now how much easier it is with no kids living at home. DH is quite tidy- doesn’t really clean anything but thats ok
Hope you all Enjoy your Day!! x (no more long weekends for 6 weeks!! (puke)lol)

Hi Shellie, Thanks for opening and the ANZAC picture - beautiful. I hope you do have a good day and the weather settles to something less scary. How far away is work? You could always just pop across for lunch with DH if it's not too far or phone him for 'company'.
Hi everyone, A work morning for me and the in-laws over this afternoon. DD11 has gone to the ANZAC service and is meeting a friend afterwards for the morning. DS8 has done his homework and 'learning' - needs some extra support and if we get in early in the day when he's fresh, it's much nicer. I feel for him because not everyone does 'homework' on weekends and most days, but from everything I've read, unless we plug the holes in his learning now, it's extremely difficult to catch up - anyway, we had quite a nice 20 mins doing maths and a bit of punctuation. DS4 is having a lovely time drawing a treasure map, playing with cars and now snuggling now with DS8 watching Octonauts.
Blessings MR - done Clear breakfast dishes and clean bench - done Clear office desk - 5 mins Start 'other jobs' list e.g. receipts, filings etc. so I don't get sidetracked Remover leftover toy giveaways from downstairs to 'spare room' to sort
Work Set priorities Get it done!
Prep for in-laws' visit Check weight of roast and set time to put on Put together potato bake (bought pre-sliced for easy) Make caramel slice if time Wrap gift bought for DS4 on behalf of DMiL (hip replacement 3 weeks ago - great that she's coming) Anniversary card for DMiL and DFiL - ask DH to write it - his folks! PUPA lounge and dining - pretty good just want it pretty S&S upstairs + fresh hand towel Set table (Ask DD11 and DS8)

Hi girls,
It's taken to now 11.30am until the weather had cleared well enough to drive. But it's too late to go to work now. Called DH and he said not to bother. He only got power back on at 10.30am. So that means the phones are back working now too. Won't be many customers in from now on, even with the improve in weather. He is going to try to have an early finish (yeah sure), it was almost 8pm when he got home yesterday (computer issues). He managed dinner, cuppa and was in bed by 9.30. Poor thing must be out on his feet.
Anyway I'm safe and sound. Heading up to IGA in a minute, DD16 has a hankering for Party Pies.
