At first I wasn't going to post this, since I don't think I'm likely to hit every day. Then I figured, what the hell - who cares if I don't manage every day? Just by trying, I'm going to get a darned sight more done than if I don't try, and it'll be fun to write about. I have hardly any work booked for June so I'd like to at least be using the time wisely, and I'm more than ready to get some of this clutter gone!
Got things off to a start today by putting in 15 mins on my computer table. (Which is not looking noticeably different, but that's because the stuff on there normally involves getting time-consuming jobs done like reconciling accounts before I can store the statement - it isn't just a case of 'chuck, put away, chuck'.)

That sounds like an excellent challenge, and one that could change your life. Even if you only hit 20 days out of the month, that's 5hours of de-cluttering your life and making your home more peaceful. So well worth it, and if you do more, well awesome.
I hope you get some company on this challenge, and can cheer each other on.

Pleased with myself today - busy day and out at Book Club in the evening, but still managed the 15 mins decluttering after I got back. And did it working on my desk, which was such a horrible pile of random junk I felt like giving up on it completely as I couldn't even figure out what half the stuff was, let alone whether I needed to keep it! So, took it steady, deep breath, one item at a time... and tried the strategy of grabbing a pen and notepad before I started so that, if I couldn't figure out what I should be doing about something, I could ask DH about it. (My desk seems to have ended up a repository of all kinds of electrical leads and stuff, which is more his department and I don't know what needs keeping. Worked my way through, one item at a time, figuring out which ones I could get rid of/move to somewhere else - which ended up being a lot more than I'd expected. And the ones I didn't have a clue about, I put on the list ready to ask DH about at an opportune moment (which probably won't arise for some time, but at least now I know what I want to ask about, which is a big improvement). Still ended up with quite a bit of stuff which I know I want to keep but can't actually figure out a place for... but at least I've cleared a lot out, and that gets me closer to the point where I only still have things I want to keep and can then figure out how to store them sensibly within the available space! So, big progress today. Desk still hardly what I'd call neat, but vastly improved on where it was.

I am concentrating on removing 'body clutter' at the moment Sarah, BUT I did declutter 8 dining chairs on Monday (replaced with 8 new ones) Also quickly disposed of all boxes and packing material, so I am counting that

I have a "spare" room that needs to become a guest room and an office with an energy sucking path up the middle and papers from study I finished 3 years ago.
Keep posting - it's always more fun with friends.

Today, spent the 15 mins on a box of CDs on my desk. Some of them I'll go through at a later date when I can listen to them/copy them, but I managed to clear out a stack of old children's CDs that they don't listen to any more. Found an unidentified one that has turned out to have a lot of my old favourites recorded on it - just been rediscovering some lovely Paul Simon songs that I hadn't listened to in years, and now it's just moved on to Donovan's 'Moonshadow'. This is beautiful!

5th and 6th - worked on the pile of general detritus along the back wall
7th - missed a day
8th (today) - bottom shelf of the bookcase. Then, since I had some time in hand, thought about whether or not to do an extra 15 mins to make up for yesterday - wanted to do it, but also recognised the folly of getting into the 'better make up for that time I missed' mindset, which will not be good long-term. So compromised with a change of pace - spent 15 mins reading stuff that I needed to read in order to decide whether to keep or chuck (which resulted in 2 more booklets going).

Ooops - missed more days reporting back than I realised! OK, 9th must have been the day I worked on the pile of stuff on the second shelf up. I now have half an empty shelf there. 10th - started going through the two big folders of saved articles from medical newspapers/magazines that I once used to save in case I ever wanted to refer back to them, and that I am now never, ever, ever going to go back through because they are so many years out of date that I would be seriously negligent if I tried using them as a basis for any professional learning. I did save a few, largely from dermatology, since skin lesions are the same now as they were ten or fifteen years ago and looking through those pictures one more time before I throw them out will be useful revision, plus some that actually will be of some use even this long afterwards. Swathes of them could go, however. 11th - missed a day 12th - finished off the folders of saved articles as above. Even I was surprised at how much stuff I managed to pull out of them. We're talking clown car folders here. Taking the whole pile out to the recycling bin felt beautiful.
13th - started on the overflow from what I call the Nostalgia Boxes - lots of cards and stuff piled up on top of the boxes since there's not enough room in them.

Urgh, I'm losing track! Let's see - I know I did Monday and I'm sure I did Tue, but I know I missed Wed & Thur. So Mon & Tue must have been finishing the first Nostalgia Box (it's actually the second because I thought I'd leave the first one till last, if that makes sense). Yes, that sounds right - I'm sure it took me two more sessions after the first one.
Tonight I started on the other Nostalgia Box. (So far, it's stuff I've been through before, but I'm sorting it into categories and also still finding some stuff I can get rid of.)
