4/1/15 - Walk with DD16, added 2 hills 5/1/15 - Walk with 2 hills 6/1/15 - Walk with 3 hills 7/1/15 - Walk with DD16 with 2 hills (but walked quicker as I was a bit mad) 8/1/15 - Miss 9/1/15 - Walk with DD16 with 3 hills 10/1/15 - Walk with DD16 with 3 hills 11/1/15 - Miss (raining) 12/1/15 - Walk with DD16, 3 hills plus extra distance 13/1/15 - Miss today, WHB instead 14/1/15 - Walk with DD16, 2 hills 15/1/15 - 16/1/15 -

Well done, Shellie! I've been trying Judy's skipping challenge, except that since I don't own a skipping rope and can't skip anyway I'm just doing pretend skipping. So the first couple of days of the year I basically just jumped up and down a hundred times while swinging my arms around a bit. Then I thought that if I was really skipping I'd bounce once between each skip, so now I'm trying to do that, which is exhausting - I've managed it both yesterday and today but had to break off part way each time to get my breath! Also: Mini-weights routine Thurs & Sat (I do it 3x/wk) Exercise bike - I think I've done 10 mins at high speed every day so far, though might have missed a day, can't swear to that. Today I did an extra 5 mins at normal speed after the 10 mins. Oh, and went for a walk with the family today - not sure how far we went as we couldn't do the full walk due to mud. Probably about 1.5 miles. I won't be able to keep up that level of exercise for long so I'll make the most of it while I can!

Thanks for starting us off Shellie Dr Sarah- I've been doing the exactly the same with my skipping. I like to do it first thing before my shower, but do have to put a bra on first : D

Just did the 100 skips yesterday because of book club, but today I also did the weights routine & 15 mins on the exercise bike (I try doing 10 mins pushing myself & 5 mins more slowly).

I didn’t do the jumps yesterday- my old body is a bit sore i know thats a good thing but I’ve also had arthritis before in joints when Ive done a lot of repetitive stuff-. When we went to UK I did a lot of walking and my feet were so sore near my little toes- I thought it was my shoes but podiatrist said arthritis flare up. I iced it, gave it voltarin and rested it and now 2 1/2 years later it hasn’t given me more trouble and I had something similar with my thumbs after a working bee at school. Anyway ill just see how this jumping goes. I just dont seem to make the time for walks or treadmill these days so Im jumping today!

Good for you, Judy! I've managed the skipping each day (still without a rope, which is how it'll have to stay) and on Thursday & Saturday I also did the weights routine & exercise biking.

Still managing skipping each day & did weights routine on Monday and exercise bike today. After doing the 10 mins biking at speed I actually went on & did 40 mins altogether (in two separate sessions) at lower speed - was caught up in a reread of 'The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets' Nest' which is a great distraction for something like that!

Did weights routine Thur & today and still doing skipping every day. I'm taking a break from the higher-speed exercise biking & trying to get in a bit of time at normal speed - it was just so exhausting thinking about doing the high-speed at the end of a long day that I'd end up doing nothing, so I figured it was better to aim for a goal I might realistically manage! Did 35 mins yesterday & 15 mins today.

Dr Sarah you are doing so well. i haven't been doing the skipping. It's too hard on my body. Yesterday I did (according to DH) a 10 km walk. Even if it wasn't quite that much, it's more than I've done in ages! Im hoping to walk again on Monday after work.- don't laugh. I might!

Yes!!! Made it! 100 skips (without rope) every day this month! Still doing the weights routine three times a week as well, but haven't been finding as much time to do the exercise biking. Trouble is DS's computer is in that room as well and he complains bitterly when I'm on the bike because of the noise, so I end up not doing it. Then I'm just too tired after they're in bed. Oh, well, at least I'm getting something done. Not laughing, Judy - sounds like you're doing really well! Wish I had time to go for that long a walk! When the kids are older I'm going to join a rambler's society.
