Good Morning to all the Lovely Ladies
I am struggling here atm. I am mad. I am so mad with my Dad and his poor decision making and his lack of preparation for his future. And the fact the I of all people am left to 'clean up his mess'. Silly silly man. For someone who lived the way he did, made the choices he did, he was stupidly trusting. It's so frustrating. And of course, he's not too happy about being in a Nursing Home (who is), but if he had listened and used a walker instead of just a walking stick. And not used his front stairs instead of his flat back entrance, his life may have been different. And there is a lot of other 'if's' and "wish he'd thought about it's" and planned better.
His worldly possessions fit into 3 storage tubs (after I have sorted, washed, stain removed and thrown out many of his clothes). That's what he has to show for his 84yrs on the planet. Worked as a Teacher/Deputy Principal beyond retirement age, then ran a swim center for more years than he should have and most of that time he worked two jobs. And he has 3 storage tubs plus 1/2 a house he will never see again. Silly silly man. I hope what he has in those 3 tubs last him, because he won't have the funds to replace them. He will have approx $10-$20 per fortnight to pay for his medication/toiletries, so there really won't be much leftover for frivolous things like new clothes/shoes. I now need to contact Centrelink to see if he is eligible for some sort of 'hardship payment' to supplement the cost of his medications and toiletries.
So, today is another day. Trying to just get back to some sort of normal.
