It's the children's half-term break, and so I've only got one day of work booked in the next week and a half. I'm hoping it will be a good chance to catch up on some stuff, so here's my to-do list for the holiday: - Catch up on all of the work stuff that can be done by remote control (and hopefully a few of the on-site things!)
- Catch up on putting the laundry away, and stay caught up on it
- Do one thing each day towards sorting out my appraisal (including 2 - 3 educational credits)
- Do one thing each day towards planning the children's party (which is Nov 23rd)
- Get the mess of stuff on my computer table back under control
- Get the ironing backlog back under control
- Get some basic tidying done, especially in the children's room, which is a chronic disaster
- Order some computer stuff DH has recommended I get
- Reply to an e-mail that's overdue
- Finish decluttering the big bookcase in the living room
- Declutter the top shelf in my study, and figure out which books to put on it instead
There may be more, but that looks like a good overhaul, so I'll get started on that.

So... it's Day 1 of the holidays, I'm breakfasted and ready, DD is ready, the dishwasher's emptied, a load of laundry is washing as we speak, and it's time to get on with the list!
Slight change of plan for the morning - I was going to start with the work stuff, since there are patients waiting for those referrals, but then the mother of my daughter's best friend texted me to see whether there was any chance I could take her for a couple of hours. This suits me beautifully as well, since it means my daughter is entertained without my input, but I think I'll make tidying the children's room more of a priority if someone else is going to be playing in it!
OK - daughter's friend is here and they're playing happily in the living room for the moment. I'll go up and aim to get the laundry put away in their room, the beds made, and do a 5 minute Room Rescue. Oh, and just go sort the post which I see arriving.

Done! And nothing for me in the post, so I've put my husband's letter on his desk and that's that sorted out for the day. Children's room now reduced to merely a minor disaster. Daughter and friend happily engaged in mixing every paint she possesses together.
Now time for work stuff - or as much as I can get done with two children excitedly calling me from upstairs every couple of minutes to come and admire the new colour they've made.

OK. One major paint spillage and partial clean-up later, I have completed four of the six letters/forms I have to do and dealt with a couple of other bits and pieces, so that's good going. Time to make lunch for the children (daughter's friend now off home).

Lunch made, children taken to park for healthful fresh air and time away from brain-melting electronic devices, laundry rebooted (load from this morning and one further load washed and dried - still some putting away to do, plus several bags of putting-away backlog), further not-terribly-successful attempt made at cleaning the floor, one further form done for work (quite a hassle to get done but needed doing, so that feels good), last of the party invitations filled out and put in stamped addressed envelope ready for posting, which I'm going to count as my 'party preparation' contribution for today as I want to focus on other stuff, and now it's after 5.00. I'm now going to start work on the desk stuff.

Caught up on a bunch of accounts and completely failed to find a form I need to get sent off. I'll have another look tomorrow and if I still can't find it I'll have to ask for another copy - which is annoying as I could have sorted it out more easily and quickly if I'd realised a few days ago that there was a problem. Oh, well. I'll take a break from that and look at some appraisal stuff to be sure I get that done for today.

For my appraisal contribution for today, I've drawn up a list of things I still need to do before submitting the evidence. I'll go back and work on my desk to see what else I can get done before dinnertime (tonight is one of the nights DH does dinner, which gives me a nice break). Pretty good day's work!

Thank you, Medusahair! I'm proud to report that I finished off yesterday by catching up on the backlog of laundry to be put away. Apart from some which goes in the children's room which I couldn't do while they were asleep and one bag that turned out to be still damp and will need more time in the dryer, I caught up on the lot of it. It was only a few bags, but it feels very good to have it done.
So, here we are on Day 2! I'm up/dressed/breakfasted & generally ready, the children are ready and are embroiled in their various electronic enjoyments, I've emptied the dishwasher, changed the towels and got the dirty ones into the wash (one of my regular Thursday jobs), and put the bag of damp laundry back through the dryer, and now I'm ready to get cracking on the to-do list again.
Hmmmm.... yesterday I had the nasty shock of realising that I'm supposed to be doing a second audit cycle before my appraisal, and I only have just over five weeks to do that, so I think that's my first priority to get started on. I'll log into work & see if I can remember how to run the search I need to run - if not, I'll have to ask the practice manager, so the sooner I do that the better. While I'm logged on, I'll see about getting caught up on more work stuff if I can.

Couldn't figure it out at all with the search, so sent request to PM to show me. Until I get a reply to that, I can't go any further with that one, so I let that go for the time being & moved on. Did the other letter I needed to do, which actually brings me pretty darned close to being caught up for now - I can only see one more task I've got to do that can be done by remote control, but that one's quite complex so I've been putting it off. Everything else is stuff I have to wait till I'm on site to do, which is a nice excuse for leaving it for now. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Oh - also put away the laundry that needed putting away in the children's room. OK - nearly lunchtime so I'll go get that ready in a minute. Hmmm - laundry reboot due in about a half hour, & should be a straightforward one as not much to put away from the stuff that's in the dryer (most of it is DH's so that I leave for him). I think for my next task I'll order the computer stuff, since that should be a relatively simple finite task that I can just get done and crossed off, which will be nice, and also it'll hopefully leave DH feeling that I'm actually getting something done. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Also, I just remembered I need to do something about a Hallowe'en costume for DD, so I'll look at getting that ordered.

OK, so life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans... ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) Right after writing that, I heard a beeping noise and went to investigate, and it turned out to be the washing machine telling me the drain filter was blocked. I followed the instructions and it all seems to be working fine now, so of course I am a CHAMPION ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) , but it did thoroughly take care of any time I might have had before lunchtime, so I'm just going to get lunch now and take a break, and get on with things afterwards. (Judy - I wish there was the remotest chance of me getting through that lot in a couple of days! There's a lot to be done for both appraisal and the kids' birthday. As for what I'll do when I do finish that list - well, next order of business is my tax return. Sadly I have no doubt that finding things that need doing is not going to be one of my problems! ![:-S](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wavey.png) )

Relaxed over lunch & watched the other half of the 'Apprentice' episode I started last night, which was fun, and then took the kids out to the park and then we played hide and seek when we got in. So I'm behind on getting things done, but it was a good afternoon!
Anyway, now I've finally ordered that computer stuff, & also DD's costume. I'm doing dinner tonight so I need to get started on that soon. In the meantime, I'm going to start planning the party food as today's contribution to planning the party.

OK, I've got an initial list of food ideas and I also did a 5 minute RR in the children's room. Dinner's nearly ready, and I've got exercising to do after dinner which I didn't find time for earlier, so I'm going to call it a night on everything else. Another good day's work.

Kids ready, dishwasher emptied, load of laundry in, and here I am all set to aim for three good days out of three!
Already done the 5 minute Room Rescue, as it happens, while DD was waking up, so that's one thing out of the way. Next priority is to log onto work and see whether the PM has replied to my request for instructions about running the audit search - if so, I can get on with that, and if not I'll do something else towards appraisal. I also want to aim at getting that last job done so that I can be caught up with work stuff and take a few days' break from it.
